In the excavator industry, the correct installation of the ECU (electronic control unit) program is crucial for the normal operation of the equipment. The following are some methods to detect whether the ECU program is correctly installed.
Equipment startup and operation status monitoring
After installing the ECU program, first perform the equipment startup test. After the equipment is started, observe its operating status. The engine idle speed should be stable and the speed fluctuation should be within a reasonable range. When operating the excavator to work, pay attention to the response of each action, such as digging, rotation, walking, etc. The actions should be smooth and coordinated, and the speed should meet the equipment performance parameters.
Fault code reading and analysis
The ECU of the excavator usually has a self-diagnosis function, and the fault code can be read by professional diagnostic equipment. Connect the diagnostic equipment to the diagnostic interface of the excavator and read the fault information according to the equipment operation guide. If no fault code is displayed, it is preliminarily explained that the installation of the ECU program did not cause obvious errors.
If a fault code is read, it is necessary to analyze it in accordance with the fault code manual of the excavator. Different fault codes represent different fault types, which may involve sensor failure, actuator failure or program logic error. For example, if a fault code of a sensor appears, it may be that the configuration parameters of the sensor are incorrect during the program installation process, resulting in the ECU being unable to correctly receive or process the sensor signal.
Sensor and actuator signal inspection
Use tools such as multimeters and oscilloscopes to detect the signals of key sensors and actuators of the excavator. Taking the coolant temperature sensor as an example, the output voltage of the sensor measured by a multimeter at different engine operating temperatures should be consistent with the standard voltage value of the sensor of this model. If the voltage value deviation is too large, it may be that the program calibrates the sensor inaccurately.
For actuators, such as injectors, solenoid valves, etc., observe the waveform of their control signals through an oscilloscope when the equipment is running. The normal waveform should meet the design requirements of the equipment, including parameters such as waveform shape, amplitude and frequency. If the waveform is abnormal, it may be that the ECU program has an incorrect control instruction for the actuator.
Data comparison and verification
Before installing the ECU program, record some key operating data of the excavator, such as engine speed, hydraulic system pressure, fuel consumption rate, etc. After installing the program, collect these data again under the same operating conditions and compare them with the previously recorded data. If the data difference is within a reasonable error range, it means that the program installation is basically correct and the equipment performance is stable. If the data is obviously abnormal, such as a significant increase in fuel consumption rate, too high or too low pressure in the hydraulic system, it may be that the program’s control strategy for the relevant system is improper, and the program settings need to be further checked.
By monitoring the equipment startup and operating status, reading and analyzing fault codes, checking sensor and actuator signals, and comparing and verifying data, it is possible to accurately determine whether the program in the excavator ECU has been correctly installed. Once a problem is found, find out the cause and recheck the program installation steps.
